An exciting opportunity learning to design jigs and production tools to improve production outcomes. You will also learn how to problem solve and contribute to improvement activities supporting the production engineering team with developing S.O.P’s

Duties will include:

  • You will be orientated around all aspects of the Porvair business including the fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly areas
  • You will learn t to design mechanical fixtures and jigs using 3D modelling to generate 2D drawings
  • Learn how to apply Business Improvement Techniques to a range of applications
  • Monitor processes and learn how to apply problem solving tools including root cause analysis
  • Identify cost effective interventions to solve production problems
  • Get involved with a range of projects contributing towards the team meeting measurable targets
  • Be part of the ELTA’s flexible manpower solution supporting the product design function during peak times
  • Learn about the research and design teams activities whilst you assigned to this are of the business

 

Other information:

  • Possible destination roles could include working in the design team
  • Or the Research and Development team
  • You will need to be able to get yourself reliably to ELTA’s Segensworth site

Skills required:

  • A flexible attitude to work and be willing to use their own initiative.
  • You excellent communication skills will enable you to develop into a role where the ability to effectively communicate on a technical level with peers and management is crucial.
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You will need to be productive when working as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Have a good level of IT literacy, competent using MS Office

  • You will have a ‘Can Do’ flexible attitude to work with a willingness to use your own initiative
  • Your enthusiasm motivation and drive will be among your best appreciated assets
  • You will be methodical with a good eye for detail.
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (inc Maths, English, Science – preferably Physics) at Grade C or above
  • Any Engineering qualifications will be looked upon favourably
  • “A” level’s in Maths or Science will be looked upon favourably
