With patients' needs at the heart of everything they do, Hedge End Medical provide Primary Care Services to the people of Hedge End and surrounding areas.

Duties will include:

  • To assist with the smooth running of administrative team.
  • To respond to need and prioritise accordingly.
  • To understand the need for strict confidentiality.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Fill printers with prescription paper and plain paper throughout building
  • Write prescriptions in file ready to collect by chemist
  • Unpack, check off and put away deliveries
  • Assist with stock check of stationery
  • Pull and file patient notes at direction or reception, secretaries and doctors
  • Photocopy patient notes at direction of secretaries
  • Tidy waiting rooms and consulting rooms during the day
  • Keep patient notice boards up to date and tidy
  • Make refreshments for admin team and visitors
  • Take post and parcels to post office at the end of each day
  • Run errands for team, such as buying milk
  • Learn new skills, such as scanning onto patient records, or reception duties, to enable cover for absence
  • Be prepared to attend training courses, which may be off site
  • Attend and take an active part in staff meetings
  • To be appraised by the Practice Manager or Reception Manager
  • To be able to be flexible regarding holiday and sickness cover, including holiday/sickness cover for extended hours and Saturday mornings
  • Attend Apprenticeship training as directed by Practice Manager and PETA
  • Work doing general office junior tasks as directed by the Practice Manager

  • Due to location, you will ideally be local to Hedge End as public transport can be unreliable in the area.  Car drivers should ensure the Apprentice salary can cover the running costs for your vehicle.

Skills required:

  • IT experience preferable  but full training will be given
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexible
  • Able to adapt to change

Qualifications required

  • GCSE’s A-C grades in English, Math’s and IT or equivalent
