This is an ideal apprenticeship opportunity to gain experience in Parts Administration and Customer Service. This job will give you the opportunity to learn about how the business works as a whole and move into providing an excellent customer experience for clients wishing to order truck parts.

Solent Truck Parts is Southern England's leading supplier of brakes, clutches, batteries, belts, oils, filters, exhaust systems, lamps and lenses. They are a small business with a large client base, working with such companies as Volvo, Scania, DAF, MAN, ERF, Ford Iveco, Mercedes, Bedford, Foden, Hino, LDV, Leyland, Seddon Atkinson & Renault supplying HGV Trucks, Trailers Buses & Coach parts.

Duties will include:

This post will begin with working in the warehouse to learn all about how the business works and what services and parts they supply.  The role will then evolve into a more customer focused one, dealing with the company’s client base providing excellent customer care throughout their experience with Solent Truck Parts.

 Duties will include: 
  • Liaising with customers regarding requirements
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with queries as they arise or passing to the relevant member of staff
  • Looking up the correct part for the customer to ensure they are receiving appropriate parts for their needs
  • Organisation of delivery of parts to customers
  • Stock checking
  • Using our booking software
  • Researching internet and specialised databases for corrects parts for the customer.


Other information

  • Due to the nature of this role, from time to time you may be required to lift heavy parts from shelves in the warehouse. Full Manual Handling training will be undertaken by the apprentice.

Skills required:

  • Good level of reading skills
  • Confidence to use the telephone

  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Committed to undertake the Apprenticeship programme and learn and progress throughout the course.


Qualifications required

  • None required


  • List duties, ie 20 days paid holiday and 8 statutory days holiday
  • Progression routes within the company for the right candidate
  • Christmas meal and tickets for truck racing offered to staff


Future Prospects

  • Progression to Advanced apprenticeship or full time employment for the right candidate
