Christina Hill

Apprenticeship Recruiter

"What drives me in my job is knowing I can help someone find a job whilst gaining a qualification, a career is such a big part of some people's lives and I can be the person that finds that for them."

What led you to work for PETA?

After studying health and social care, business and law at college I was still so unsure on where I wanted my career to go. I knew I loved supporting individuals, so I applied for a position at Winchester University to study social work. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit, this really affected the way the university ran, and I was no longer receiving the right support to continue my education. I finished with my level 4 and changed to full time in my then current sales position. After being in sales for over 2 years, I wanted more. I no longer wanted to sell products, I wanted to sell opportunities and get back into a supportive role. And like many, I fell into recruitment. Recruitment to me is supporting and encouraging individuals in finding the right career for them.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

My role at PETA is an apprenticeship recruiter, I support individuals to kick start their career and give them guidance in finding the right apprenticeship for them whether that is school leavers all the way through to people wanting to change career later in life. What drives me in my job is knowing I can help someone find a job whilst gaining a qualification, a career is such a big part of some people's lives and I can be the person that finds that for them.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

I approach my day-to-day life by being super organised. I find that my day goes a lot smoother when I have a to-do list and everything in my calendar. It makes it a lot easier to follow when I know what I need to do next. I find it also really important to not take on too many tasks at once as it can be overwhelming and confusing.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

In my spare time outside of work I volunteer at a charity called Blind Veterans UK where I visit veterans who may need a bit of company and help them to live a fulfilling, independent life after sight loss. As well as this I love to spend time with friends and family.

What are your personal values and what is important to you?

My main personal values are equality, kindness and loyalty.
