We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Technical Sales Engineer to work within our Sales and support teams

Matrix specialise in providing IT Support services to small and medium businesses. We provide a comprehensive range of services which include:

• Designing, supplying and installing computer systems and networks
• Technical projects and consultancy
• Investigation, diagnosing and resolving problems with customers IT systems.

We work with companies in Portsmouth, Fareham, and Southampton and across the Hampshire region. Our experience and knowledge of computer services and IT solutions in Hampshire, support businesses to move forward. We work closely with our clients to provide an excellent support service.
IT services that we provide include: Managed IT services, Fully Managed IT services, Partially Managed, 24/7 Helpdesk support, System monitoring, Server, PCs, On-site engineers, Online reporting system, Ticketing system – from which the problem will be tracked until resolved. Daily checks and live system checks of critical business applications/systems.

Duties will include:

  • Digital Marketing
    • Blogging on behalf of the Company 
    • Creating website content 
    • Managing website content (releasing and testing website updates) 
    • SEO 
    • Matrix’s social media presence 
    • Proactive digital marketing campaigns (email, social media etc.) 
    • Creating and maintaining targeted contact lists
  • Sales
    • Management of CW Sales Dashboard - ensuring it is up-to-date, complete, accurate and consistent 
    • Quotes for IT Hardware using ConnectWise Sell (Matrix quoting system) 
    • Monitor order porter for quote acceptance 
    • Quoting and ordering of VoIP and connectivity packages 
    • Check availability of better connectivity services and packages for existing clients 
    • Maintain and update the website with news and offers 
    • Create and manage sales campaigns to existing and potential clients within CW 
    • Respond to and follow up on sales enquiries, new leads and referrals
  • Sales support
    • Sales pipeline 
    • Forecasting 
    • Monitor and report on sales activities and provide relevant management information 
    • To work within sales budgets
  • Procurement
    • Obtain best prices from suppliers for items quoted from preferred suppliers 
    • Refer potential suppliers to Management for approval and set up accounts 
    • Follow ConnectWise (Matrix Business management system) process for ordering 
    • Pass all supplier invoices to Operations Administrator.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Goods in/out
    • Follow ConnectWise process for Goods in/out ensuring stock levels are correct. 
    • Work with despatcher to ensure all items are assigned for despatch. 
    • Manage stocks and spares
  • Recycling
    • Check daily for items brought in for recycling. Confirm customer has agreed recycling and follow process to prepare items for collection 
    • Arrange collection and retain hazardous waste certificates.
  • Agreements
    • Draft agreements for approval by Sales Director and prepare for sales meetings 
    • Handover to Operations Administrator to ensure agreements are correct on ConnectWise 
    • Following completion of projects ensure all agreements match new services
  • Purchase ledger
    • Matching supplier invoices to customer invoices
  • Customers
    • Develop and maintain ConnectWise (CW) customer database 
    • Establish, maintain and develop current and potential client relationships 
    • Manage account services and resolve client concerns
  • Connectivity
    • Management of admin portal – assigning lines, managing credit on customer accounts. 
    • DSL usage management

Additional Responsibilities

  • L1 Helpdesk cover 
    • Provide cover and backup the Operations Administrator

  • The company is located at a remote industrial estate with minimal public transport.

Skills required:

  • Good numerical and literacy skills and good levels of computer literacy
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Good analytical/problem solving skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels with good relationship building skills
  • Self-motivated and keen to develop, with a willingness and desire to learn

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Maths, English and ICT Grade D or above
