An exciting opportunity has arisen at a Medical Centre in Hedge End. If you are interested in IT and would like to learn more about the medical profession then this Apprenticeship is for you.

With patients' needs at the heart of everything they do, Hedge End Medical provide Primary Care Services to the people of Hedge End and surrounding areas.

Duties will include:

  • Investigate and resolve problems in the day-to-day use of computers, printers and other IT related equipment and network.
  • Maintain staff password security, adding new members of staff and deleting ex-members of staff.
  • Arrange for new staff members to be set up with NHS email accounts.                      
  • To be the first point of contact with the helpdesks of the clinical and other system suppliers.
  • Run searches and reports as defined by the Partners, the Practice Manager or the IT Manager.
  • Maintain existing templates.
  • Report to the IT Manager any significant events relating to the IT systems.
  • Provide support to the IT Manager in Data Manipulation.
  • Maintain an up to date hardware and software inventory.
  • Data entry for patient records.
  • Patient communication by post, telephone, SMS and email.
  • Transfer electronic workload from one Doctor to another in the event of absence
  • Chase up any outstanding calls that have previously been logged and not completed.

 

Other information

  • Be prepared to attend training courses and user groups, which may be off site.
  • Attend and take an active part in staff meetings.

  • Great communication Skills
  • Able to act on initiative.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritising tasks and able to work to deadlines.

 

Personal qualities

  • A real interest in computers and technology would be beneficial
  • Keen to learn.
  • Enthusiastic.

 

Qualifications required

  • GCSE’s A-C grades in English or equivalent is essential
