Safety Advisory

This is a popular service and is based on the client company appointing a PETA Adviser to act as the appointed Safety Adviser. Visiting on an agreed frequency during a twelve month contract, the Adviser will assist with all aspects of developing, implementing and monitoring the health and safety management system. An additional bonus of this service is the availability of telephone advice during the working day. The system is designed to be flexible to suit the clients needs, and additional visits can be arranged at short notice if necessary.

Key purpose

The key purposes of this service are to:
  • Advise the company on the formulation and implementation of effective safety strategies and policies
  • Inform and advise on the interpretation of health and safety legislation and its relevance to company activities
  • Produce a written visit report on completion of each visit detailing activities undertaken and highlighting future necessary actions and/or safety hazards noted during this visit
  • Produce an end of contract review of achievements and objectives, thus enabling progress to be measured and future safety requirements to be adequately assessed

Core activities

In support of the key purposes are the core activities which are the routine actions and tasks undertaken by the appointed Adviser:

  • Undertaking regular health and safety inspections, including the preparation of written or verbal reports as required
  • Assisting with the development of safety initiatives
  • Reviewing risk assessments
  • Identifying training needs
  • Providing safety training briefings
  • Advising on the development and selection of safety training courses
  • Reviewing and developing the company safety policy
  • Assisting with the development and running of the safety committee, the Adviser may be an ex-officio member
  • Advising on the selection and use of personal protective equipment
  • Assisting with accident and dangerous incident investigation
  • Advising on fire legislation, precautions and procedures
  • Liaising with external authorities

Fees

Fees for this service do vary depending upon the commitment you are able to make at the time of booking.  As a guide the hourly rate starts at £53.50 per hour for a member organisation with more than 12 visits.  Please call to discuss your needs and a quote.

Please note that there is a minimum of 2 hours per visit and travel or accommodation charges will be additional where required.
