Companies depend heavily on trained maintenance engineers to make sure that their machinery and processes run efficiently.  Maintenance Engineers specialise in diagnosing faults before they happen, predicting when repairs will be required and getting the maximum life from the plant and equipment for which they are responsible.  Engineers used to specialise in one discipline but are now required to work on mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery.
