PETA Training are proud to be working with Elliott Brothers Ltd, looking to source an exceptional Customer Service Advisor Apprentice for their organisation. 

Elliotts have a proven track record in developing Apprentices. It is their mission to help Apprentices to achieve their potential and have a long term career within the organisation. Elliotts have opportunities for Customer Service Apprentices within each of their branches based in the South and West of the region.

Elliotts is a Builders Merchant with its Main Branch and Offices based in Southampton. “There are not many businesses that have been working for their customers as long as us. We’ve been open to the trade and public since 1842 and we're one of the oldest family businesses in the UK.” Their motto is ‘helping you build’ now they are ‘helping apprentices build their future’


  • Learning about the products and services that Elliotts offer to their customers. Learning the Elliotts way of doing things.
  • Getting to know Elliotts customers, assessing and managing their requests
  • Dealing with both new and a regular clientele.
  • Ordering stock accurately
  • Getting to know suppliers
  • Working closely with various departments and offering support to other branches
  • Communicating with peers and being part of the Apprenticeship Buddy initiative
  • Learning about and adhering to Health & Safety
  • Administrative duties
  • Communicating with customers face to face, via the phone and by email
  • Learning the Sales function and quotation function
  • Using the bespoke internal computer system


  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Some basic IT knowledge would be useful although training on internal systems will be given
  • Adequate Numeracy skills when pricing and quoting and understanding measurements in discussions with customers. This will get stronger over time.

Qualifications required
  • 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A*-C (Grade 4 to 9) including English and Maths

Training to be provided

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the- job training.  The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work.

You will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2
