The Royal Yachting Association is the national body for dinghy, yacht and motor cruising, all forms of sail racing, RIBs and sports boats, windsurfing and personal watercraft and a leading representative for inland waterways cruising.

The RYA is excited to announce that it is seeking an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Apprentice to work with its Safeguarding & Equality team to help implement and deliver the RYA’s Diversity strategy, which focuses on the following primary principles:
Joining the team as a Business Administration Apprentice, you will provide administrative support to the Safeguarding & Equality team. The team’s strategic aim is to make boating more accessible and attractive to all. In your new role, your key accountabilities will include:
Working with the Safeguarding & Equality Manager to support and deliver Equality, Diversity & Inclusion programmes or initiatives within the RYA and across the sport.
Assisting in the delivery of key events or training relating to the area of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
Undertaking project work, either individually or in conjunction with a member of the Safeguarding & Equality Team, relating to the objectives of the RYA’s Diversity Strategy. Monitoring and reporting on progress as required.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, through both email and telephone calls, in a professional and timely manner.
Providing occasional support and assistance on Safeguarding matters, as directed by the Safeguarding & Equality Manager.
Occasional attendance at events, meetings and training sessions outside normal office hours may be required, for which time off in lieu will be granted.
As the ideal Business Administration Apprentice (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) you will require excellent communication skills, on the telephone, in writing and face to face. You will also require:
Accurate spelling and grammar.
Good attention to detail.
Ability to interact with a wide range of people.
Ability to manage time effectively and use initiative.
Ability to work to deadlines. and eager to learn.
Computer literate, with knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
Understanding of databases (training will be given on RYA systems).
Understanding of and interest in equality, diversity and inclusion.
Self-motivated and resilient.
Can do attitude and a confident manner.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Commitment to getting the job done.
Knowledge of sailing and boating
Confidence in delivering presentations
Driving licence as access to the office via public transport is limited
Flexible and adaptable approach (including occasional need for out-of-normal-hours working for which time off in lieu is allowed).
Administrative experience is desirable
GCSE English & Maths Grades A* – C or 4 – 9 or Functional Skills Level 2 Certificate

Training to be provided
As the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Apprentice you will be working towards the Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice through PETA. Completion of this apprenticeship takes approximately 15 months, and the RYA will fully support you in achieving this.
You will be employed directly by the client but be support every step of the way by PETA. The majority of your training will be completed with your employer at your place of however, throughout the duration of the apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of our PETA training centres for off the job training.
