PETA Ltd are looking to source a number of exceptional Welding Apprentices for our clients in Portsmouth & the surrounding areas.

If you want to develop a career in engineering and have a passion for it, this apprenticeship could be ideal for you!

We are recruiting now for Welding Apprentices to start on our programmes in September.

 

Duties

Our welding apprenticeships are designed to offer progression. You will be learning how to manually weld to company standards of quality and integrity using manual arc welding processes including Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Manual Metal Arc (MMA), Metal Inert Gas (MIG).

You will learn to weld in 3 positions and two different materials. Each welding process requires different welding equipment, assemblies, controls, skills and techniques. The material types used require specific controls and techniques to achieve a satisfactory weld. You will be required to continually monitor and adapt your orientation to achieve the quality of work demanded by high integrity piping systems. This is essential to the successful fabrication and construction of the welded assemblies.

Skills

If you are interested in taking things apart to find out how they work and are methodical, this is the role for you. As our ideal Welding Apprentice, you will require:

  • Motivation and drive to succeed
  • Great communication skills with the ability to communicate with peers and management
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development
  • Have good numerical, logical, organisational, and analytical skills
Personal qualities
  • You will have a good level of dexterity hand skills
  • Demonstrate an interest in maintaining mechanical and electrical items is desirable
  • You will have good hand to eye co-ordination and hand skills
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to perform to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You need to be able to learn through instruction and experience
Qualifications required
  • 3 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.

Training to be provided

This position is offered as an apprenticeship and depending on your client placement, you will either be completing a level 2 or level 3 programme. 

You will be employed directly by the client but be support every step of the way by PETA.

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training.
