PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Manufacturing Apprentice for our client, Safran in Segensworth. Are you a driven, curious and motivated individual seeking a Manufacturing Apprenticeship?

If so, this is your opportunity to join a busy New Production department as the Manufacturing Apprentice.

The purpose of the New Production Manufacturing Apprentice is to learn and understand all aspects of the manufacturing processes. Underpinned by Health and Safety learning this will be achieved through formal education college based learning and one to one on the job learning.


As a Manufacturing Apprentice, your job will entail:

  • Follow and develop training in line with a coordinated training plan and log activities carried out on a weekly basis. This is to be used as evidence and learning across all activities applied within the apprenticeship.
  • Carry out all bench processes to have a full understanding of metal removal, deburring and fettling methods.
  • Set up and operate manual/ CNC machine tools across turning, milling and grinding.
  • Use a range of inspection methods and equipment to ensure product conformity.
  • Dedicate time with HSE representatives to achieve an understanding of HSE legislation within SHE UK.
  • Accurately record your weekly time keeping via Horoquartz in accordance with company procedures.
  • Develop an understanding of SAP (SHE UK Company operating system) with frequent training.
  • Develop and understand policies and procedures used in the SHE UK manufacturing environment.
  • Work closely with the Quality department to achieve an understanding of all regulations adhered to within SHE UK.
  • Carryout continuous improvement activities and record them on company Ideas Scheme.
  • Adhere to PETA and SHE UK Personal Development training plan/ objectives.
  • Demonstrate correct company values and behaviours when acting as a representative in front of customers and visitors.
  • Participate in Lean and Continuous improvement projects and support 5S policy.
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
  • Carry out any other tasks as directed by the Team Leader or Manager, which may reasonably be required to meet the needs of SHE UK.

Qualifications required
  • 5 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.

Training to be provided

This position is offered as an apprenticeship and you will be completing a Level 3 Engineering qualification. You will be employed directly by the client but be support every step of the way by PETA.

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training center for off-the-job training.  The majority of skills development training in years 2, 3 and 4 will be completed with your employer at your place of work.

You will be employed whilst you are completing your apprenticeship this will include 18 months of day release training at PETA Ltd where you will complete your Level 2 (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will include:

  • Preparing and using Manual Turning Machines
  • Preparing and using Manual Milling Machines
  • Preparing and using CNC Milling Machines
  • Preparing and using CNC Turning Machines
  • Using fitting and assembly Techniques.
  • Producing Mechanical Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
  • Conducting business improvement activities
  • You will also complete the Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Technical Knowledge).

You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:

Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) delivered in the workplace by your PETA Learning & Development Coach. During this time you will be day released for 24 months to complete a Technical certificate (Level 3) as part of your advanced apprenticeship standard. This will be the Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge).
