An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Infrastructure Technician Apprentice to join Amari Metals Limited, one of the UK’s largest independent multi-metal stockholders. The successful applicant will undertake a L3 Information Communication Technician: Technical Support apprenticeship and be responsible for providing IT systems support, management and development of desktop, server, network, and software infrastructure within the business! Amari Metals Limited provides IT services and support to over 50 sites with 1400 employees located throughout the UK. The IT Team are based out of two locations, with an office located in Southampton and another in the West Midlands. You will be part of the Infrastructure Team, who have over 50 years combined IT experience, and a wider team consisting of Linux, Development and Service Desk departments.

Duties

You will become a subject matter expert on the infrastructure technologies utilised within the business and provide an operational 2nd/3rd level support escalation to the Service Desk to resolve more complex system issues.

Within the day-to-day duties you will undertake proactive monitoring of all network, security and computer systems, ensuring system uptime is maintained within SLAs.

Hardware and software installations, which may from time to time include travel to sites throughout the UK.

Manage the hardware assets, ensuring devices are accounted for and patched correctly, all the way through to decommission and secure disposal.

Established in 1986, the company has expanded significantly in recent years, with 50+ offices UK-wide they are currently looking to grow the internal IT team to manage the increasing number of IT users.

Skills

  • You should be technology-minded and have interest in IT
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Driving license are required
Personal qualities
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
Qualifications required
  • 2 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.
  • A Level, BTEC or equivalent formal education in an IT related subject is highly desirable

Future prospects

There is opportunity for a full time role once the apprenticeship has been completed. 

Training to be provided

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the-job training. The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be completing the Information Communication Technician – Support Technician apprenticeship.
