IT Support Technician Apprentice


Apprenticeship summary:

Are you looking to start your career in IT Support? Do you want to be part of an experienced team where you will develop new skills and knowledge in the IT industry? If YES, than this is the right opportunity for you.

You will work as an IT support technician apprentice in a small IT team, providing 1st through to 2nd line IT support via telephone and onsite support to fast-paced manufacturing departments. Travel to our second site in the UK for onsite support may be required, transport will be provided.


  • Support will involve giving 1st to 2nd line technical support to end users
  • Using the IT Helpdesk system to track and monitor all logged support calls
  • Building, fixing and upgrading hardware, including desktops, laptops
  • Resolving software and application issues
  • Maintaining stock and inventory and working with 3rd party suppliers
  • Supporting offsite and international staff in all IT and hardware issues
  • Being involved and supporting IT implementation and upgrade projects (Office 365, Windows 10 etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of Windows, hardware and mobile devices iPads and iPhones
  • Self-motivated and keen to develop, with a willingness and desire to learn
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
Personal qualities
  • Experience / knowledge in hardware and software installation, troubleshooting will be beneficial
Qualifications required

Grade C (4) or above in GCSE Mathematics and English Language

Training to be provided

This position is offered as an apprenticeship and you will be completing a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician qualification, along with the following units:

  • Microsoft (MTA) Networking Fundamentals
  • Microsoft (MTA) Mobility and device Fundamentals
  • Microsoft (MTA) Server Admin
  • Microsoft (MTA) Software development Fundamentals
  • ITIL Foundation V4

You will be employed directly by the client but be support every step of the way by PETA.

The majority of your training will be completed with your employer at your place of however, throughout the duration of the apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of our PETA training centres for off the job training.
