An Apprenticeship is a great opportunity to start or develop your career with a salaried job and free training. This role involves working as ICT Technician within the school's Network Team to ensure that all ICT systems support high quality teaching and learning and the smooth running of the school.
This role is a fantastic first step towards working in IT support in a school environment. You will be working closely with IT colleagues in all technical disciplines to share knowledge, ensure consistency and improve service levels and support.
Preparation, assembly, setting up and clearing away of computer equipment with appropriate software
Test and back up of all network and computer systems
Maintain equipment, including computer hardware installations, maintenance of peripherals, scanners, printers, photocopiers
Undertake repairs and modifications, commissioning other companies to undertake such as required.
To keep an inventory of hardware, software and other computer supplies
Provide technical advice and assistance to teaching staff and pupils.
Mayfield School is a heavily oversubscribed all-through school for pupils aged 4-16. We have had a strong commitment to Apprenticeship programmes and twelve members of permanent staff originally joined us Apprentices. We are able to offer a varied and interesting training experience that will establish your first steps on the ICT career ladder.
An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills to develop relationships with people at all levels.
Interest / experience in IT and willingness to learn
Experience of software installation and troubleshooting
Good working knowledge of PC operating systems including Windows 10
Experience of working with Windows server technologies
Experience of maintaining websites
Experience of wired and wireless networking
5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English and maths)
Full training provided

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the-job training. The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be completing the Information Communication Technician – Support Technician apprenticeship.
