Apprenticeship summary:

If you want to move forward with your IT career, each day to be different than the previous one and to learn every IT aspect, then this is the right place. This role is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring IT Helpdesk Support / IT Support Engineer / IT Technician, to learn new skills and progress within the IT field.

This role is a fantastic first step towards working in IT support with local schools. You will be part of a team where you will learn everything about IT support, Schools Broadbands and many more!  A progression opportunity will be offered for the successful candidate upon completion of their apprenticeship. 


  • Install and maintain computer hardware, laptops, audio/visual equipment and peripherals.  
  • Routine administration including, data backups, Active Directory maintenance.
  • Software installation, maintenance and upgrading in line with rocket development policy.
  • Administration and development of Internet, Intranet, Extranet, and E-mail systems, including learning platforms and websites.
  • To keep abreast of technological developments and encourage the use of ICT at all levels.
  • To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT equipment around clients.

  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a personable, friendly and polite nature
  • Have strong customer service skills
  • Have a basic understanding of Operating Systems and Office applications
  • Have a genuine interest in ICT
  • Be able to pass an enhanced DBS check
Personal qualities
  • ICT qualifications are advantageous.
  • Desirable that you are able to self-manage your workload and work using own initiative.
  • Experience using Windows, Google Classroom and iPads is favoured
Qualifications required
  • GCSE Maths and English grade A*-C / 4-9 or equivalent

Future prospects
  • A progression opportunity will be offered for the successful candidate upon completion of their apprenticeship. 
Training to be provided
  • Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the-job training.
  • The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work.
  • You will be completing the Information Communication Technician – Support Technician apprenticeship.
