PETA Training are proud to be working with Courtney Thorne Ltd  looking to source an exceptional Infrastructure Technician Apprentice for their organisation.

The Technical Support EngineerApprentice will be become a multi skilled Engineer who can work in all aspects of CT Service Engineering both in the workshop, remotely and in the field.

  • Learn principles of Health and Safety in Courtney - Thorne and in the field for operational soies and construction sites
  • Learn principles and processes of excellent Customer Service and communciation with customers
  • Learn all product ranges and their operation comprehensively enough to competently - answer technical phone calls, solving technical queries and product problems whilst communicating in a calm, positive and professional manner, documenting details of each call and ouput on the CT Odoo ERP system
  • Provide technical support to Field Engineers and Customers, where required liaise with R&D, documenting on Odoo any non-standard technical details or any bespoke setup information
  • Assisting Service Engineers and Sales both internally and in the field with pre-installation site visits, installations, services and call outs when requested
  • Assist the Field Engineering team to solve technical system issues
  • Repairs - Fault finding to component level, ensuring product faults are repaired, tested and returned to the customerwith approporiate documentation completed accurately and faults recorded on the Odoo system for trend analyses
  • Feedback - Learning to provide technical, structured feedback to the Systems Engineer regarding potential product design improvements
  • Undertsand basic principles of product fault and failure analysis
  • Upgrading products - Learning how to use relevetn electronic equipment and software programs to upgrade products from both C-T Centre ad remotely.
  • Assemble - Learning electronic assembly techniques to assemble some CT products
  • Testing new and existing products, leanring principles of product testing and how to use relevant electronic equipment and software programs. Documenting test results in a structured technical and understandable format
  • Creating product bulletins and content for the company knowledge base (eg WikiThorne)
  • Writing training manuals or processes for distribution to internal staff and/or the customer base
  • Learning principles of product quality assurnace including ISO standards, processes and principles of operation
Other information
  • You will need to be 18 years and over to apply for this apprenticeship.
  • This role requires you to have a DBS completed on you before you start position.
  • You will need to hold a full driving licence for this position as after 6 months you will be going out on site to look at engineers installing products and repairs.


  • A basic understanding of computer hardware and an ability to diagnose minor faults and recity where possible     
  • Good listening and communciation skills
  • There is particular responsbility to maintain a high standard of health and safety, in order to ensure that pupils and staff are protected from various hazards.

Qualifications required
  • GCSE Maths Grades A - C (4 - 9*) or Functional Skills Level 2
  • GCSE English Grades A - C (4 - 9*)  or Functional Skills Level 2

Future prospects
  • At the end of the apprenticeship, if there is a role within the business for a full time Technician then you would be suitable for this role     
Training to be provided

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the- job training.  The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work.

You will be completing Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship along with the following qualifications:

  • Microsoft (MTA) Networking Fundamentals
  • Microsoft (MTA) Mobility and device Fundamentals
  • Microsoft (MTA) Server Admin
  • Microsoft (MTA) Software development Fundamentals
  • ITIL Foundation V4
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required)
