Lift Trucks - When do I need refresher training?
Guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states that regular refresher training will ensure that operators maintain good driving habits, learn any new skills where appropriate, and reassess their abilities regularly.
There is no specific time period after which you need to provide refresher training or formal assessment. As an employer you may decide that automatic refresher training or a retest after a set period (for example 3-5 years) is the best way to ensure that your employees remain competent. You also need to monitor performance in case operators need extra training before the set period ends, for example if they have an accident, haven’t been operating a truck for a while, or perhaps they have to take on new tasks.
PETA can provide you with training at all levels from novice, refresher and experienced to lift truck instructor courses. Much of this training can be carried out either at your premises or at our training centre, and can be adapted to your work schedules and shift patterns if necessary.
