Raising the Roof at North Harbour
Every year, PETA Training and Consultancy Services opens the doors of its North Harbour Conference and Training Centre for a day of free training and inspirational talks.
This year, Friday 16 September 2016, saw the eleventh annual PETA Free Course Taster Event, welcoming over 100 business people from a variety of sectors for a day of free training and networking enhanced with delicious complimentary business breakfast and lunch.
The event kicked off with special guest speaker Steve Head, one of the most successful motivational speakers in the UK today, having delivered over 1,500 sessions across Europe. Steve gave an inspirational talk on how focusing on the positive can impact not just your business but your whole life. Sharing anecdotes from his childhood in Gateshead and from his time coaching Great Britain’s winning Paralympic Rugby Team, Steve raised the roof with his hilarious stories. His practical advice for increasing performance really hit home and he received a standing ovation for his superb delivery.
Claire Cunningham, HR Manager at Jim Stokes Workshop Group said: “The world would be a much better place if everyone took Steve’s advice. He was a captivating speaker and made me feel inspired about our business. I’m in the lucky position as an HR manager that our staff are already all very passionate about our work in restoring classic cars, but it’s great to hear that what we’re doing is working.”
Kelly Marsh, Training and Administration Manager at Brymor Construction Ltd said: “Steve’s tips were great for dealing with all aspects of life.”
Toni Skinner, Administration manager at Rowner Family Centre said: “The session was a lot of fun and I’ve got lots of ideas I can implement throughout the year. I will certainly be capturing positive feedback and putting it on display for our staff.”
PETA Director, Bob Hiskey explained: “The day is designed to give business people new insights away from their day-to-day business. With over 100 business people attending each year it is also a great opportunity to make new connections and share learning with your peers.”
