Celebrating 16 years of great food and service!
PETA have been providing their delegates with a delicious range of hot and cold lunches and refreshments for 25+ years. But where does this delectable food come from? PETA has always had a resident caterer and when their long-standing provider retired four years ago, they knew they had a tall order to fill.
After extensive research, Wright Catering were selected and set about establishing new menus to ensure the reputation for good home cooked food continued. This month will see the company celebrate it’s 16th birthday, which is an amazing achievement.
Wright Catering provide an excellent service. The team are always willing to try new ideas to ensure their menus remain current and popular with our daily flow of delegates attending training courses at our Training and Conference Centre in Portsmouth.
As part of PETA’s standard open course offer, delegates are given a two-course business lunch with a single hot option main course and a choice of desserts. Delegates on company-sponsored courses are given either a two-course business lunch, a buffet or sandwiches, subject to the preference of the sponsoring company.
Brian Wright, the owner of Wright Catering said: “I am so chuffed to be where I am today. Sixteen years ago I left a job as a chef in a restaurant, put an ad in the Yellow Pages, bought a little red van, printed some flyers and put a website together. As each year went by, the business grew and I took staff on to help me. I soon moved into a unit to operate from (rather than using our home as we started off doing), bought equipment and worked hard. Each year, the business grew and with it came with new opportunities. I was nervous about taking on the catering at PETA as it was a little different to what I had been doing, but I soon settled in. It must have been strange for the team to have someone else come in and take over the contract and to see their original manager retire, but they were great with the transition.”
Dawn Halfacre, Senior Manager of the Corporate Services said: “Changing the catering supply was a daunting prospect as we knew the retiring caterer had such an excellent reputation for providing great food. Engaging Brian has been a positive experience because he is always so eager to receive feedback, try new dishes and generally seek new and interesting menus choices. His recent paella dish went down a storm! We recognise that when a delegate comes to our centre, it is the whole experience that makes the training they receive become a lasting experience and one that sticks in their minds, enabling them to apply what they’ve learned to their day-to-day work activities. Getting a great meal is part of that experience. We look forward to working with Brian for many more years and bringing great quality food to our delegates.”
