SHE Breakfast Briefing | Friday 2nd October 2026
Join us this October for our next Breakfast Briefing, where we'll be focusing on the themes of authenticity and belonging in the workplace. We'll explore the role these play in fostering inclusive, supportive environments where people feel valued and empowered to contribute. Our breakfast briefings are designed for those responsible for Health and Safety in the workplace, offering a chance to stay ahead of emerging trends while gaining practical, hands-on knowledge that can be applied immediately.
Part 1: Behind the Mask: Authenticity & Belonging in the Workplace
This session explores why feeling that we belong is such a fundamental part of our mental and physical wellbeing, and what happens when we feel we need to "mask" parts of who we are to fit in. We'll look at where our need to belong comes from, who is most likely to hide aspects of themselves at work, and why this matters… not just for individual wellbeing, but for building the kind of trust and openness that underpins a genuinely safe working environment. Drawing on lived experience alongside research and practical resources, the session will be interactive so participants can bring their own context and experience to explore what authenticity and belonging look like in their own teams.
Part 2: The Hidden Side of Personal Resilience
We often put all our focus into looking after our teams and our organisations, which isn’t sustainable unless we look after ourselves too, and that's what this session is about. Most resilience training focuses on grit, mindset and pushing through, but there's a growing and increasingly robust evidence base pointing to something quieter, and in many ways more powerful. We'll explore what the research tells us about this often-overlooked driver of resilience: why our instinct under pressure is so often to be harder on ourselves than we'd ever be on someone else, and what that costs us in terms of judgement, energy and wellbeing. We'll look at the evidence linking it to better performance and lower burnout and, most importantly, what actually works to build it. You'll leave with a practical, in-the-moment technique you can use when things get tough, along with pointers for continuing to explore the topic further.
