Duties will include:

Learn how to:

  • Ensure that products and services meet customer requirements
  • Make sure that quality standards and airworthiness authority compliance is achieved
  • Work in accordance with HSE legislation, the Company Operating Systems, policies and procedures.
  • Learn how to identify opportunities to improve processes and working practice
  • A future part of the role will involve taking responsibility for implementing improvements.
  • How to use the SAP effectively with the aim of becoming the onsite expert
  • How to control centre workload and capacity creating efficient flow of work maximising output and minimising cost.
  • Release production work orders in accordance with the schedule requirements and effectively communicate any changes to internal customers.
  • Investigate on-time delivery problems, analyse root causes and offer corrective actions.
  • Contribute to and review strategic stock holding decisions.

The company is located on the Segensworth Industrial estate, you must be able to get here reliably

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training.  The majority of your development training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be employed whilst you are completing your apprenticeship this will include 18 months of day release training at PETA Ltd where you will complete your Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will include:

  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system
  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment                   
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems                            
  • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems
  • General turning, milling and welding applications      
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques           
  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety 
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Conducting business improvement activities

You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good level of IT literacy with a desire to become  a subject matter expert
  • Able to priortise work load
  • Objective when undertaking problem solving activities

 Personal qualities:

  • Team player able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Open minded
  • Goal orientated
  • Excellent work ethic

 Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (inc Maths, English, IT) at Grade C or above
  • Any Engineering or IT qualifications will be looked upon favourably
  • “A” level  in Maths will be looked upon favourably
