Duties will include:

  • You will be orientated around all aspects of the Antech’s business including design, procurement, machining and mechanical assembly areas
  • You will learn how to customise designs using 3D modelling to generate 2D drawings
  • Provided technical information for use by sub-contractors and internal manufacturing engineers
  • Learn how to manage production process’s including interpreting customer requirements, procuring services and components
  • Work in partnership with the sales function to ensure that external contractors are managed to ensure timely delivery of services
  • Ensure systems externally sourced parts are inspected and tested
  • Support customers with existing products arranging repairs when required
  • Provide sales and technical support to customers, internal and external engineering functions

 Other information:

  • The company are located on Waterlooville industrial estate, you must be able to get yourself here reliably.

 Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training.  The majority of your development training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be employed whilst you are completing your apprenticeship this will include 18 months of day release training at PETA Ltd where you will complete your Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will include:

  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system
  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment                   
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems                            
  • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems
  • General turning, milling and welding applications      
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques           
  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety 
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Conducting business improvement activities

You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

Skills required:

  • A flexible attitude to work and be willing to use your own initiative.
  • Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop into a role where the ability to effectively communicate on a technical level with peers and management is crucial.
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You will need to be productive when working as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Have a good level of IT literacy, competent using MS Office

  • You will have a ‘Can Do’ flexible attitude to work with a willingness to use your own initiative
  • Your enthusiasm motivation and drive will be among your best appreciated assets
  • You will be methodical with a good eye for detail.
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (inc Maths, English, Science – preferably Physics) at Grade C or above
  • Any Engineering qualifications will be looked upon favourably
