You will learn about SAACKE’s combustion and energy systems products, your learning will focus on the aftersales role. This will include liaising with and supporting customers and service technicians providing technical data and information. You will source parts including coordinating manufacture when required

SAACKE have a strong track record of training and developing engineering apprentices. They provide high performance burners, boilers and economisers with ancillaries on new and existing boiler plant. They provide an extended aftersales support service including in life upgrades and planned obsolescence management. This includes identifying new technological alternatives for existing hardware and control systems.

Duties will include:

  • Learn how to support customers and service technicians alike with technical data and product support
  • Become competent in arranging the dispatch of spares, and production equipment when required
  • Learn how to produce spares lists for contract specific sites.
  • Become competent producing and printing documentation and literature relevant to the service/spares operation
  • Learn how to assist the Regional Service Managers with quotations for spares and site upgrades.
  • Become competent liaising with Service Technicians for stock replacement, spares orders and service tool replacement/calibration.
  • Learn how to arrange parts and labour for the assembly of spares and production items
  • You will also liaise with the Aftersales Manager and Accounts Manager on monthly financial reports as well as SAACKE Bremen supporting SAACKE products worldwide

  • The company are looking to recruit the right caliber individual for this role and see personal attributes as a key part of securing the personnel they want.
  • The company is located on the Portsmouth Industrial Estate, you will need to be able to get yourself here reliably. (There is a train station nearby).

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training.  The majority of skills development training in years 2, 3 and 4 will be completed with your employer at your place of work.

You will work towards the following qualifications:

  • You will be employed whilst you are completing your apprenticeship this will include 6 months of block release training at PETA Ltd where you will complete your Level 2 Advanced Engineering (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will include:
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques           
  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety 
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Conducting business improvement activities
  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment                   
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems                            
  • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems               
  • General turning, milling and welding applications                  
  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system

You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:

  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)

You will also achieve Functional Skills in Math’s and English at level 2 (if you have not already achieved C+ or a Grade 4+ in these disciplines).

  • You will enjoy communicating with others and working collaboratively
  • You will possess a good logical approach to problem solving
  • Be objective when making decisions
  • Have an awareness of H&S issues regarding working
  • The ability to understand and act on technical information is desirable
  • Customer facing skills will be beneficial

  • A good attention to detail
  • You will be focused, self-motivated, trustworthy with a team player mentality
  • You will be organized with ability to plan activities
  • Be able to anticipate possible problems in advance
  • Working to deadlines will be something you enjoy

Qualifications required:

  • 4 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential
  • Any engineering experience or qualifications will be looked upon favourably
