Duties will include:

  • Always work in accordance with company safety procedures and follow Health and Safety legislation
  • Use a variety of test and calibration equipment under controlled conditions in a well-equipped laboratory
  • Carry out calibration of manufacturing instruments / gauges and measurement devices in controlled environments (temperature, humidity, pressure, Mustimeters, PSUs Insulation testers etc. ) to ensure they are accurately calibrated to the required standards/specification
  • Carry out the calibration of “Test Rigs” around the site which would involve for example (Voltage, Current, Power, Pressure, Temperature, Flow)
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality output
  • Attend PETA / College and completing coursework on time and to the required standard

  • The company is located on the premises of Eaton Aerospace in Titchfield
  • You will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training. 
  • This will include an initial 18 months of day release training where you will complete your Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will consist:
    • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety 
    • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
    • Using and communicating technical information
    • Conducting business improvement activities
    • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment                 
    • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems                          
    • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems             
    • General turning, milling and welding applications               
    • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system
    • Producing components using hand fitting techniques
  • You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:
    • • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development       Technical Knowledge) (if required)
    • • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence).
  •  The majority of your development training will be completed with your employer  at your place of work

Skills required:

  • You will need to be a good communicator
  • Possess a good level of dexterity and skills using hand tools
  • Have a good logical approach to problem solving
  • Possess an awareness of H&S and safe working practices
  • Have a good eye for detail

Personal qualities:

  • You must be able to work in a team orientated environment
  • You will need to be accurate and thorough in your approach
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to work independently
  • Good time keeper
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE grade B/6 or above is essential in Maths, English and Science
  • Successful completion of an engineering BTEC level 3 knowledge qualification is also essential
