This is an exciting role travelling U.K wide learning how to install, service and maintain a variety of UPS & Generators as part of a team. The training will lead to your competently complete work to industry standards diagnosing problems when they occur. You will complete a level 3 NVQ post apprenticeship enabling you to work solo in the field

Duties will include:

  • Travel U.K wide and possible international trips
  • Become competent installing and maintaining Uninterruptable Power Sources (UPS) and Generators.
  • Learn how to support installation and commissioning activities
  • After training you will be inspecting installed units
  • Learn how to complete servicing and planned preventative maintenance
  • Become competent diagnosing faults and conducting repairs in line with company guidelines
  • Once competent you will be attending breakdowns identifying root causes of problems
  • Complete reports identifying all work undertaken
  • Work safely at all times

Training to be provided:

During the 18 months day release you will complete a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Foundation Competence) at the PETA Ltd Engineering Training Centre in Havant (5 minute walk from Havant Railway Station), consisting of the following units:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Conducting business improvement activities
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques
  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
  • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems
  • General turning, milling and welding applications
  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system

Skills required:

  • A basic knowledge of electrical and electronics will be advantageous
  • Good basic hand skills and an interest in maintenance is required
  • You will also need good communication skills,
  • A logical approach to problem solving
  • Ambitious with a strong team working ethos

Personal qualities:

  • You will have good written and spoken communication skills be punctual, reliable and responsible
  • You will work well as a team member, be able to work effectively with a wide variety of people and be willing to assist when required
  • Well organised, good at planning ahead and can meet deadlines.
  • You will need to be focused and self-motivated

Qualifications required:

  • A minimum requirement of 3 GCSE’s at a C grade or above including English and Math’s is required.
  • You will preferably have achieved a Btec National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or A levels in Electronics and a Science
  • You will be expected to progress and complete all qualifications in your apprenticeship framework
