The aero engine technician’s work involves replacing or repairing worn, defective, or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment. You will strip down and inspect engine parts such as turbine blades and cylinders, for wear, warping, cracks, and leaks and on completion you will re-build / reassemble.

H+S Aviation and sister company Dallas Airmotive, are OEM-certified and dedicated to providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services for small gas turbine and turbofan engines used in aviation. Their authorisations cover the majority of turbine engine models powering fixed and rotary wing aircraft used for business aviation, and many of the engines used in government, military and commercial applications. Duties will include:

  • Carry out extensive Inventory of engines/components/units. Checking for any damage, anomalies and that all supporting documents are correct.
  • Strip units down to an acceptable level depending on customer/OEM manual requirements.
  • Carry out basic cleaning of components as appropriate.
  • Inspect all relevant components and identify items for scrap, rework or refit using product information and OEM manuals in accordance with company procedures and Quality Manuals.
  • Ensure all components for rebuilding are to required specifications and available within agreed turn time targets.
  • Build unit to defined standard ensuring fit, clearance and modification levels are accurate.
  • Prepare/set up unit for testing.
  • Test unit and ensure all agreed checks are actioned.
  • Carry out final checks on completed unit ensuring all paperwork is appropriately stamped.
  • Maintain exceptional quality standards throughout all processes in a safety conscious manner.
  • Continuously meet expected turn time targets, working efficiently and methodically to achieve this

Skills required:

  • Awareness of health and safety considerations.
  • You will possess excellent eye for detail
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, these are required as this job entails daily contact with all personnel including supervisory and management staff
  • Have good written communication skills enabling you to complete reports
  • You must be able to explain problems and how they were dealt with clearly and concisely

  • Be able to make objective decisions using evidence and data
  • Once trained you will be able to work effectively when supervised, with the flexibility to work on your own initiative when required
  • You must be able to work flexibly in respect of requirements of the post
  • Demonstrate an interest and commitment to further training and personal development
  • Be a rounded individual participating in activities and interests on a personal level

Qualifications required:

  • Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s with grades above C (4)
  • This must include maths and English
  • A Science based GCSE will be looked upon favorably
  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering will be advantageous
