The maintenance technician’s work involves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructures. Maintenance technicians ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably by planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance and responding to breakdowns.

H+S Aviation and sister company Dallas Airmotive, are OEM-certified and dedicated to providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services for small gas turbine and turbofan engines used in aviation. Their authorisations cover the majority of turbine engine models powering fixed and rotary wing aircraft used for business aviation, and many of the engines used in government, military and commercial applications. Duties will include:

  • Carry out agreed planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme on time and as required to the schedule, maintaining and recording any relevant information for audit or historical purposes.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner in accordance with all current legislation. Ensure isolations, lock out/tag out are used before any work commences where required and all relevant permits are in place.
  • React promptly to internal maintenance requests and take appropriate action to resolve in priority order. Maintain the requests system inputting relevant updates of maintenance information and prioritise/schedule maintenance work in agreement with the Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Control the maintenance request system in the absence of the Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Carry out and co-ordinate the safe disposal of all waste in line with agreed procedures maintaining and recording any relevant information for audit or historical purposes. Maintain an up to date knowledge of all relevant hazardous substances.
  • Maintain the knowledge and be proficient in the starting, running and identifying of faults on all equipment (compressors, standby generators, heating, boilers etc.).
  • Carry out monthly lighting checks across both sites in accordance with Site Services PPM schedule. Repair any defective lamps or tubes in good time.
  • Assist the Maintenance Team Leader when required, with the co-ordination and monitoring of external contractors whilst on site. Where required assist external contractors on site.
  • In an emergency, isolate any relevant Plant, Buildings and equipment as directed.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement processes, in working practices and team efficiency.
  • Participate in all facilities maintenance activities as required.

Skills required:

  • Awareness of health and safety considerations.
  • You will possess excellent eye for detail
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, these are required as this job entails daily contact with all personnel including supervisory and management staff
  • Have good written communication skills enabling you to complete reports
  • You must be able to explain problems and how they were dealt with clearly and concisely

  • Be able to make objective decisions using evidence and data
  • Once trained you will be able to work effectively when supervised, with the flexibility to work on your own initiative when required
  • You must be able to work flexibly in respect of requirements of the post
  • Demonstrate an interest and commitment to further training and personal development
  • Be a rounded individual participating in activities and interests on a personal level

Qualifications required:

  • Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s with grades above C (4)
  • This must include maths and English
  • A Science based GCSE will be looked upon favorably
  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering will be advantageous
