A fantastic opportunity to be engaged with the machining activities that take place on site, learning to use a variety of tools and machinery including manual milling and turning machines with progression to CNC planned in the future.

Duties will include:

  • Follow company safety procedures and Health and Safety legislation
  • Learn how to read and interpret drawings, data and documentation used to produce machined components
  • Be able to select and set up the correct tooling and work holding devices
  • Learn how to set and adjust machine operating parameters to maximise efficiency
  • Learn how to edit using the machine control interface and operate CNC Milling/Routing machines
  • Learn about a range machining strategies and innovative work holding methods
  • Select and use a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy

Skills required:

  • You will have a good level of dexterity and hand skills
  • Demonstrate an interest in manufacturing mechanical components is highly desirable
  • You will have good hand to eye co-ordination
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to perform to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You need to be able to learn through instruction and experience

Personal qualities:

  • Your motivation and drive are the assets that will be best appreciated. 
  • You will need good communication skills as you will develop into a role where the ability to communicate on a technical level with peers and management is a crucial skill
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development

Qualifications required:

  • 3 GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include maths and English
  • Any engineering experience or qualifications will be looked upon favorably


  • 20 days annual leave plus 8 days statutory bank/public holidays.
