Duties will include:

To support the company’s growth strategy a decision has been made to recruit a Purchasing assistant Apprentice. He or she will play a key role in assisting the Director in everyday responsibilities, to ensure that supplies are made in time and on budget to the production facility. Preferably applicants will have an interest in purchasing and manufacturing within an engineering environment, and have some knowledge of Microsoft applications.

  • To process suppliers invoices clearing any queries in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To ensure all orders raised have been acknowledged by the supplier
  • To ensure that all suppliers achieve their confirmed delivery dates by progressing orders on a daily basis.
  • To ensure that all purchase orders are signed off by the Operations Director and in specific instances countersigned by another Director.
  • To raise purchase orders and either phone or mail them through as required.
  • To complete administration of supplier returns.
  • To report accurately supplier performance to the Senior Buyer.
  • To assist with both UK and export shipping and packing together with the collation of all required documentation.
  • To assist with production timesheet processing.
  • To adopt a flexible working approach and to suggest any ideas for process improvement.
  • To answer external telephone calls in accordance with the schedule.
  • To aid the Production Manager with any necessary duties.
  • As part of the Production team the Purchasing assistant Apprentice will be expected to accurately monitor and provide progress reports on all aspects of the role.
  • The Purchasing assistant Apprentice will be required to participate and encourage the team working culture throughout the organisation and to be self-motivated in adopting continuous improvement philosophies.

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office an advantage
  • Must have excellent IT skills and the confidence to take on and use new systems
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Keyboard skills
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to follow and carry out simple instructions
  • Able to interact well with people and work as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and to agreed time scales
  • Willing to train to obtain further experience and qualifications

 Qualifications required:

  • Math and English Language at Grade C/4 or above
