What led you to start your apprenticeship?
I was looking for a way to start and advance my career. I found myself working in businesses that limited my career growth. Finding this apprenticeship has allowed me to gain and develop desirable skills as well as exposure to industry professionals.
Please tell us your current job title and what a typical day for you would involve
My job title is marketing and communications apprentice. Day to day my role involves internal and external communication for the company. Updating and refreshing local website content. I plan attendance at trade shows and events to create supporting material. Coordinate campaigns and events for the executive team.
How was/is your apprenticeship experience?
Within my first five months here I am really enjoying my time. There is a really good balance between my workload and apprenticeship work. The job is a new experience for me and I have already learnt so much along the way and I look forward to learning more.
What do you enjoy most about doing an apprenticeship?
The experiences I have been given within my role have been amazing. I have been able to visit lots of events as well as plan my own within the site.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I would like to carry on further within marketing and learn more as it is new to me. However, I also have a lot of ideas to eventually have my own business or working towards project management, as I really enjoy the event side to this job.
Piece of advice you would give someone thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
I wish I did an apprenticeship sooner rather than later, it has got me involved in projects and workloads I never got to experience within my other jobs. It’s a brilliant way to get exposure whilst working on the job.
How has an apprenticeship helped you progress within your role and company?
Being able to learn about a business qualification as well as have a different job role has allowed me to have a further understanding of the company. I have made connections with people I would never meet with other jobs as well as open doors to the rest of my career.
