To understand the various commercial administration processes within the Company, and how to provide an effective service by dealing efficiently, professionally with both the internal and external customer.

To gain relevant qualifications, as decided by the Company, which will support learning and understanding of the commercial world.

Gain experience by building rapport with customers as well as working effectively as part of the team.

Our parent company – BBA Aviation plc is focused on two primary markets - Flight Support and Aftermarket Services. H+S Aviation, together with its sister company Dallas Airmotive, is part of the Aftermarket Services division, repairing and overhauling of gas turbine and turbofan engines, and their component parts. H+S Aviation is split into five autonomous business units focused on a specific product range and there is also a separate component repair facility and R-R Model 250 Training School. Over 300 employees work in 220,000 sq. ft of modern workshops within two sites in Portsmouth UK.

Duties will include:

Understand how the Commercial sections work covering areas such as – documentation, estimates and quotations, shipping information, invoices, customer queries, debt chasing and any other paperwork required to maintain quality and professional relationship.

Understand how the purchasing section works – taking into account stock levels, delivery dates, just in time purchasing and the impact on our customers.

Understand how the inventory and control of stock has an impact on the day to day running of the shop floor and the service to our customers.

Finance – understand how different sections of the Finance Department link to Stores, Inventory and the Commercial functions of the Programmes to achieve targets and profit.

  • Raise projects and/or customer orders
  • Liaise with customer to ensure all relevant documentation is available
  • Produce cost estimates/quotes and issue to customer
  • Provide customers with relevant despatch/shipping details
  • Raise invoices for completed projects
  • Prepare and issue Customer Status Reports
  • Resolve customer queries speedily and effectively
  • Maintain accurate records and customer database
  • Produce commercial reports and statistics as required
  • Prepare information for customer visits
  • Maintain all project records for monthly financial reporting
  • Adhere to customer/commercial targets
  • Administer planned inputs on CRM
  • Act as a single point of contact for all customer communication on all aspects of the business
  • Liaise with other departments (shipping, engineering, finance) to provide answers to customer questions
  • Work closely with the sales organisation to ensure engines and projects are approved (second sell)
  • Complete quotations for customer requirements
  • Maintain financial forecasts and support where required

Other information:

  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and regulations
  • Adhere to the Company Information and Protection Policy (IPP)
  • Comply with statutory requirements and regulations and Company requirements
  • Carry out any other reasonable request within current competence level
  • Assist in the training of team members ensuring best practice standards are maintained
  • Self-development will be the responsibility of the post-holder. Training and development will be identified and opportunities sought to increase personal effectiveness
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external departments
  • Cross train on various products to allow the flexing of resource throughout the business

  • PC literate – Excel and Word

Qualifications required:

  • Math and English Language at Grade C/4 or above
