What led you to work at PETA?

After leaving school, I went to work for a local firm of solicitors and remained in legal practice for eighteen years. I then decided to change career path working in finance and achieving a Level 4 AAT Technician qualification. I applied and was successful in being offered the position of Finance Administrator with PETA Ltd. Here, I stayed for several years until being offered promotion to PA to the CEO and HR Officer, a position I have held for the last 15 years.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

The role PA and HR Officer is varied and often very rewarding. I regard this as a privileged position having an insight to high level business decision making and providing support to staff at all levels across the company.

What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?

Having a background of working in legal practice and accountancy, this provided me with a sound foundation for dealing with HR matters in a professional manner.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

It is important to listen and not to judge or rush into making decisions without all the facts. Taking time to evaluate situations is important.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Being outdoors and generally enjoying life.

What are your personal values, and what is important to you?

“Respect others and they will respect you”.  Life is for living and embrace everyday opportunities.
