Duties will include:

  • Contribute towards being the market leading supplier of total insurance and support solutions within the mobile phone and gadget industry
  • • Aim to function in a compliant manner whilst promoting at every opportunity the company core values of inspiration, innovation and dedication, applying ‘good industry practice’ at all times.
  • Responsible for providing IT software development and support for all companies of SPB UK & Ireland Ltd , by doing so helping to achieve the Companies’ aims and objectives, ensuring personal objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Utilizing captured requirements, develop, amend and maintain new and existing software.
  • Ensure that systems are designed, developed and supported in line with our policies, standards and procedures.
  • Assessing existing applications and recommending approaches for modernization
  • Working as a member of the development team, communicating progress against milestones.
  • To be a strong team player.
  • Be able to work within a small and demanding team environment without significant direction.
  • To have a flexible approach to be able to support the priorities of the business.
  • Assist in the support and development of our bespoke claims management software programs, working closely with the Lead developer and team as required.
  • Develop other application programs and web sites as required.
  • Provide day-to-day in-house support to staff in resolving IT problems, escalating business critical issues to Senior Management as required.
  • Assist with the development of macros and programs as required with Microsoft Office Software.
  • Produce ad hoc bespoke reports, procedures and queries to support the business.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required by your line manager.

This is not an exhaustive list, and you will be expected to be flexible in your approach to carrying out your duties that may change from time to time in order to reflect changes in the Company’s circumstances.

Other information:

During the first 18 months you will complete:

  • Software Development Technician Apprenticeship Standard (Level 3)

Skills required:

  • An aptitude in software development
  • Good, effective communication skills on all levels
  • Experience with developing aps would be an advantage

Personal qualities:

  • A passion for programming
  • An inquisitive mind
  • Willing to learn and develop throughout the apprenticeship

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE's at grade C/4 or above (or equivalents) including Maths, English and ICT are preferable but not essential


  • 20 days paid holiday and 8 statutory days holiday
  • Free on-site car parking

  • Progression routes within the company for the right candidate
