Duties will include:

  • Proactively monitor and provide swift response to support tickets.
  • Undertake research to overcome technical issues.
  • Help to identify the cause of faults and undertake basic repairs.
  • To assist with the monitoring of the network and computer systems to ensure they are regularly tested to run efficiently and are backed up
  • Maintain equipment, including computer hardware installations, maintenance of peripherals, scanners, printers, projectors, undertake repairs and modifications.
  • Help support the development of new technology.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to students and staff.
  • To participate in and contribute to Staff CPD - writing guidance documents, providing training sessions.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist with requests for technical equipment and resources to support learning, developing a systematic safe approach to using equipment to support the Curriculum.
  • Preparation, assembly, setting up and clearing away of computer equipment with appropriate software peripherals.
  • Assist the Network Manager to ensure that the system is kept up-to-date regularly with antiviral and security software and other system updates and packages required.
  • Assist the Network Manager to ensure there is adequate data security, including regular password updates.  Ensure access rights to parts of the network are managed, including student and staff databases.
  • Secure network areas and equipment when not in use.
  • Demonstrate the correct and safe use of equipment to students and staff.
  • Be involved in extra curricular activities (e.g. IT clubs, activities, open days, presentation evenings).
  • Monitor any problems and difficulties, reporting these to the Network Manager.

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the- job training.  The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work.

  • Infrastructure Technician Level 3
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths if required

Qualifications required:

  • A Level or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects will be looked upon favorably, but are not essential
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A*-C (Grade 4 to 9) including English and Maths

Future Prospects:

  • The opportunity to progress to Network Engineer Level 4 Standard
