We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Apprentice 1st Line IT Support Engineer, within our IT support team based in Havant.  This role offers the successful Apprentice the opportunity to become a long term member of the WASP family.

Duties will include:

As an Apprentice 1st Line Support Engineer, you will act as the initial point of contact on the IT and telecoms helpdesk, you must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with a varied level of users and their requests over the phone and in person. Clear customer service skills must be demonstrated.

You will support mainly internal users, a few remote users and customers visiting our site or using our IT services.

During the programme you will work with and be trained by the ICT Manager while also receiving external training at PETA to enable you to become a competent engineer who has the ability to demonstrate practical experience and a solid understanding of troubleshooting, supporting and administering:-

  • MS Windows XP/7/10
  • MS Office 2010
  • Network Switches
  • Wi-Fi
  • VPN's
  • Antivirus
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • Exchange Server
  • License Compliance
  • Windows server 2008 R2
  • VMware ESX 5.5
  • Firewalls Hardware & Software
  • Veeam Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Uniplan ERP Administration
  • Communications (Land & Mobile)

As a passionate Apprentice IT and Telecoms Support Engineer you must have the ability to work under pressure, multitask and organise priorities, and have the ability to take ownership of issues and work to tight timescales.

  • Desktop Service Desk support in a Windows environment
  • Deliver strong customer service skills through a positive attitude and clear communication
  • Support and advise on installing/supporting IP based systems
  • Maintaining Windows Server 2008 R2 and MS Exchange
  • Networks / TCP/IP or router configuration
  • Broadband and IP networking
  • Peripheral telecoms equipment support

Other information:

  • During the 21 months of this programme you will be completing an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
