An outstanding opportunity for an aspiring Apprentice Infrastructure Technician to join a long-established IT Support & Managed Services company.

You will be trained and involved in setup, troubleshooting and management of desktop & laptop computers, tablets, servers, virtualization and network environments.

Smallworld IT is a small, yet very busy company providing IT support and Managed technology Services to a variety of clients.

Smallworld is responsible for supporting and maintaining their clients IT systems and for providing efficient desktop support to all. Smallworld are responsible for resolving any IT-related faults quickly and efficiently, including a broad range of queries from how to set up an email account to system diagnostics, plus enhancing and developing the IT provision extended within the business.

Duties will include:

You will build and maintain Cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and Office365, be involved in cyber security & data protection solutions. You will be responsible for the first-line support helpdesk, including logging & managing customer support requests, managing tickets and use tools to solve and troubleshoot problems and resolve customer issues

  • Manage & Support Microsoft Office 365 Environments
  • Manage & Support Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Troubleshoot & diagnose hardware issues
  • Log & manage Helpdesk tickets
  • Respond to support calls as they come into Helpdesk through the means of email, telephone and web site
  • Manage customer data backups to ensure their data is protected
  • Install desktop and laptop computers
  • Install virtual servers
  • Diagnose causes of network outages and take steps to resolve
  • Get involved with Cyber Security and Data Protection
  • Visit customer sites

Other information:

  • The company is presently located at a rural business center with minimal public transport.
  • You will need to hold a full driving licence for this position or be taking your driving test shortly.

Qualifications required:

  • Preferred GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths grade A* - C (9 – 4)
