The Cortex support team would like to offer the opportunity to an Apprentice to develop their skills and career by becoming part of a dynamic and exciting software support team for the duration of the 18 - month apprenticeship. The focus will primarily be on assisting two main areas: Cortex support and Internal IT.

Duties will include:

Service Desk Support

  • Learn and follow Incident Management Procedure
  • Learn and understand Cortex product
  • Fixes testing and deployment
  • Check system health to prevent incidents.  Analyse health reports and resolve any problem detected if possible
  • Help building knowledge support database
  • Log all incoming incidents accurately and ensure sufficient information is recorded
  • Help analysing, solving and escalating incidents

General Service Desk Activities

  • IT internal incidents: network, servers and workstation
  • IT internal Request Fulfilment: VM Servers management and workstations
  • IT Administration: backups, inventory, networking (DHCP, DNS, Internet, AD, …)

Facilities management

  • Desk Management
  • Items Management
  • Office Supplies

Other information:

Cortex Support

  • The Cortex platform is used to automate processes ranging from fault management in telecoms environments to IT process automation for clients in the financial sector.  The apprentice will help the team providing 1st and 2nd line support including case updates, testing and deploying fixes.  The role will also involve documenting support processes and expanding the support knowledge base.

Internal IT

  •  The support department is also in charge of the Cortex Ltd. Network and facilities.  The primary function on this area will be assisting in any internal network, server and workstation incidents.  Virtualization Management and Facilities Management.

For the 18 months of this apprenticeship, you will complete a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Standard

Skills required:

  • Methodical, Organised and have a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem- solving skills
  • Past experience of working with IT support through college or previous work
  • Ability to work as part of a team or alone
  • Strong and clear communication skills
  • Dynamic and flexible can- do attitude
  • Ability to explain how to use hardware and software

Qualifications required:

  • Math’s Grade C/4 or above
  • English Language Grade C/4 or above
  • Science Grade C/4 or above
  • ICT Grade C/4 or above
  • Any other ICT related qualification
