CNS are looking for an apprentice to join the infrastructure and software support team at an exciting time while we move legacy software and IT infrastructure to a new platform. You have the opportunity to get involved in a number of projects related to both hardware and software and join a dynamic team of support specialists and help troubleshoot hardware and software applications.

Shipping lines, ports, freight forwarders, shippers, terminal operators, Customs and other inspection agencies, hauliers, railway operators...they all depend on a swift flow of import and export information. Without it, trade would simply grind to a halt. CNS's systems are at the heart of the process, facilitating the electronic handling of all import and export information, ensuring that the right people have the right facts at their fingertips. The alternative? We'd all be buried in a paper chase of nightmarish proportions. Duties will include:

  • Perform 1st line support tasks including investigation faultfinding and fixes.
  • Assisting in creating and maintaining technical documentation and diagrams
  • Assist in technical projects.
  • Provide assistance to team members where required.
  • Perform daily infrastructure and software monitoring tasks and raise/report/investigate issues where found.
  • Take part in team meetings where required and contribute to the success of the team.
  • Assist in helping the infrastructure team achieve high SLA levels through proactive monitoring of infrastructure and software
  • Deploy hardware and software where required on both laptops and servers

Other information:

  • In year 2 onwards you will complete:
    • Infrastructure Technician level 3.

Skills required:

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak fluent English
  • Must have basic IT skills (relevant to the role)

Personal qualities:

  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Good communicator both verbal and written
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to organise and manage personal workload;

Qualifications required:

  • English GCSE C+ (4+) or equivalent
  • Maths GCSE C+ (4+) or equivalent
  • A Levels – Maths / English / Computing, or a level 2 apprenticeship

Future Prospects:

  • Progression to Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship
