The Support desk is part of the Technical Services Department within QGate. As well as providing support, Technical Services is responsible for the implementation of software and managing and maintaining QGate’s own Network infrastructure.

This role will initially be to provide first line application software support to our customers. We support the usage of our Vendor provided solutions (Microsoft/Infor) to our customers and QGate’s software which may be via our business partners.
The key measure for this role is Customer Satisfaction not closure rate, which reflects how customer service is important to us.

Duties will include:

This role is primarily on a Software Support Desk, providing first line support. As issues are reported, you will interpret, log and understand them for investigation and resolution. 

  • Record email correspondence
  • Respond to Customers
  • Answer Phone
  • Investigate and replicate issues
  • Internal network infrastructure maintenance
  • Internal Projects as required, including
  • Configuration of new machines
  • Internal system administration

Other Information:

  • Interpret and Log Requests and Support Cases into our systems;
  • Provide initial response to customers;
  • Investigate and replicate issues;
  • Provide regular communication to customers in accordance to our Service Level Agreements;
  • Other internal projects as required.

Skills required:

  • Able to use Microsoft Windows and software

  • Able to communicate

  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Self-disciplined

Qualifications required:

  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A*-C (Grade 4 to 9) including English and Maths


  • Starting at 20 days holiday per annum, plus public holidays

Future Prospects:

Upon completion of the L3 Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship standard, there may be the potential for the suitable candidate to move into a full-time role in any part of the company. Full-time roles may include:

  • 2nd/3rd line support
  • Product Specialist
  • Functional consultant
  • Application Developer
  • Software Developer
