We are looking for an individual that enjoys being curious about new technologies, has an aptitude for experimenting with the unknown and enjoys discovering new things. A Software Test Developer will be required to assist the development and engineering teams with a wide range of requirements. Learning about software development, networking, SATCOM and more along the way.

Duties will include:

There is a degree of independence required of a Software Test Developer. It is typical to be given a project they must go away and research by themselves before presenting findings and asking for input from colleagues.

  • Work with development team to test our software application – IRIS. Work with the developers to suggest modifications that will improve the software and users experience.
  • Work day-to-day with satellite communication devices – Learn about the satcom industry and how it works. Learn to interface devices into our software and test they work correctly.
  • Learn to write unit tests which will find and stop issues reoccurring in future updates.
  • Manage incoming customer support requests. Reproduce their issues and investigate the root cause of the problem.
  • Generate bug reports and tasks using Azure DevOps based off findings during testing.
  • Learn how to manage the software build process and continuous integration.
  • Manage and maintain virtual machines used for software testing.
  • Update technical documentation when software releases.
  • Learn programming concepts and languages – SQL, HTML, Javascript, .NET, C#.
  • Potential for interesting side projects on the job.

Skills required:

  • Experience in IT and/or customer service is advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic understanding of maths
  • Programming experience is beneficial

Qualifications required:

  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A*-C (Grade 4 to 9) including English and Maths
