Duties will include:

As a passionate Technical IT Support Apprentice you must have the ability to work under pressure, multitask and organise priorities, and have the ability to take ownership of issues and work to tight timescales.  During your programme you will work with and be trained to become a competent Engineer and who has the ability to demonstrate practical experience and a solid understanding of troubleshooting, supporting and administrating:

  • Building and maintaining of laptops and desktops
  • Installation of a variety of software
  • Hardware installation
  • General SQL maintenance
  • General system admin of Microsoft AX and Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Maintenance of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Monitoring and assisting with Helpdesk Calls
  • Maintaining high degree of customer service both internal and external
  • Liaising with customers via phone and email
  • Creation of process manuals where required
  • General admin tasks as required
  • Utilising and maintaining asset Register

Other information:

  • Within the 18 months of this Apprenticeship you will complete Unified Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

Skills required:

  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including: Windows XP
  • Windows 7, Windows 8, Office 2003, Office 2007
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware, set-up and configuration
  • Basic understanding of network skills for trouble shooting laptop and desktop connection issues
  • Problem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communications

  • Ideally you will have an understanding of confidentially and safeguarding, Previous helpdesk experience, Microsoft Dynamics AX, TFS and SharePoint experience – Please note this is not essential.

Qualifications required:

  • GSCE A-C / 9-4 grades in Maths, English and ICT
