MDI are currently looking for a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprentice that can further build the brand for the business with their existing customers and new customers. An understanding of IT would be good for the role to support with marketing campaigns and attending local exhibitions in Hampshire. They are looking for someone that has either had a little experience of marketing within a business or has a portfolio of work that could market them to MDI. A great opportunity with an amazing local business.

MDI was formed in 2001 with the idea of taking the professional approach and best practices used in large corporates and making them available to small and medium sized businesses. Since that starting point we have gone on to grow to a company of 14 employees servicing over 100 companies across the south of England. We believe in providing a quality service at a competitive price and we focus on customer satisfaction, this is our highest priority. The vast majority of our new business comes from customer referrals and we recognise the importance of the trust that our customers have in us.

Duties will include:

  • Attend & exhibit Portsmouth B2B expo 23/04/2020
  • Internal Training Events
    • MDI has previously run a number of training events covering security, compliance, and collaboration such as Office 365. These have been run as small sessions either in the office or at local sites including the Porsche Garage and Fort Purbrook.
    • These events require marketing to our existing customers and prospects via multiple channels including phone calls.
  • Create and Monitor Business Development Marketing Activities
    • Managed contracts for day-to-day IT support
    • Going forward we need to move all clients onto a managed support contract. Whilst this will give us a more predictable cashflow from support, there will be a greater onus on us to ensure that customer systems are always working. There is also the added benefit for the customer that they can budget better for their IT. The managed contracts also allow us to act more as an IT department rather than just an external supplier.
  • Create and Monitor Proactive Specific Product Marketing Projects
    • MDI Networks has identified a number of key services and products that can provide increased sales of equipment and support services. These provide compliance and security for the customer and the ability to improve all areas of their IT infrastructure.
  • Windows 7 to 10 Upgrade
    • We still have customers on Windows 7 that won’t be on Windows 10 after January. We need a multi-method campaign to encourage these clients to commit to upgrade. Methods could include mailshots with personal follow-ups (email/ phone call), social media & website.  We need to ensure the targeted audience are aware of the risks of maintaining an old system and also the benefits of migrating to a new one.
  • Promotion of Technology as a Service (TaaS)
    • Whilst uptake has been slow with only one customer since we have signed up, this hasn’t been pushed enough. This needs a dedicated campaign and can tie into the Windows 7 to 10 upgrade. There is a marketing at TechData who we can work with to help us push this out.
  • Independent Security Penetration testing
    • Now that established a relationship with a certified Penetration Tester, we really need to inform customers about his services. Using an external pen tester will give customers a critical view of their system security and will (hopefully) justify either what we have sold them, to tried to sell them.
  • Office 365 changes
    • As O365 (and azure) is constantly changing, we need to keep customers in the loop with regular updates but in a way that is suitable to them. Currently a lot of the marketing material from Microsoft is based around big companies - we need to look at how O365/ Azure can be used for SMEs and create material suitable for those environments.  If we educate customers about the changes of the products, we are more likely to keep them.
