This Junior Software Developer apprenticeship would initially involve software testing and provision of first line support to our clients. As a growing business, there will be opportunity for you to evolve in this role and develop your experience and skills in Insurtech. You will take the CII qualification as part of this apprenticeship.

Duties will include:

  • Writing in codes such as .net, Oracle and C#
  • Writing documentation describing others or own code
  • Review client tickets and engage with team for fixes
  • Using Brownfield software (this refers to the development and deployment of a new software system in the presence of existing or legacy software systems;
    • Brownfield development usually happens when you want to develop or improve upon an existing application and compels you to work with previously created code)
  • Working on Greenfield software projects (in the IT world, greenfield describes a software project that is developed from scratch rather than built from an existing program; it is often contrasted with "brownfield," which describes software built from an existing program)
  • Using and writing User Interface (UI) coding

Skills required:

  • You will be organised and work in a tidy and professional manner
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and written writing skills
  • Have good numerical, logical and analytical skills
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of working directly with customers would be a great asset
  • Experience and working knowledge of with codes such as .net, C++ and C#

  • A genuine interest in coding and learning new coding language within finance
  • A self-starter and good team worker
  • Flexible with a “can do” attitude
  • Willing to work flexibly
  • Inquisitive
  • Practical, proactive and sociable

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE – Maths Grades A – C or 4 – 9
  • GCSE - English Grades A – C or 4 – 9
  • Relevant level 3 qualification will be advantageous
