Electronic Media Services Ltd (EMS) require a web application developer apprentice working towards the Level 3 Software Development Technician. You will assist with writing, debugging and testing web applications, network performance data collection tools, implementing AI algorithms and running system tests.

Electronic Media Services Ltd (EMS) is a manufacturer of cloud – managed edge devices. We are the lead partner for a UK consortium which is a member of a pan-EU project applying cutting edge research into the use of AI/ML in self optimizing computer data networking using 5G, Software Defined Networks, Caching, Multi access edge computing (MEC) and Network functions virtualization (NFV).

Duties will include:

You will be working as a web application developer apprentice working towards a qualification as a Level 3 Software Developer Technician. You will assist with writing, debugging and testing web applications, network performance data collection tools, implementing AI algorithms and running system tests. You will gain experience in:

  • Web application platforms and tools (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Micro Services)
  • Programming skills in HTML, CSS, SQL, Python, JavaScript and Node.js
  • Web application frameworks including Vue.js and Django.
  • AI Frameworks.
  • Computer networks and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, BGP, RTSP)
  • DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
    Version control e.g. GitHub

Other information:

  • You will be completing the Level 3 Software Development Technician Standard Apprenticeship

Skills required:

  • Good communication skills both written and speaking
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Passion for learning new coding languages
  • Comfortable communicating complex technical information to a range of stakeholders, including peers, experts and non-experts and customers
  • Take ownership of tasks and work to tight deadlines

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE or Functional Skills certificate – English Grades A – C or 4 – 9
  • GCSE or Functional Skills certificate – Maths Grades A – C or 4 – 9

Future Prospects:

  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship, it is likely that there will be a full time role available at the business and an option to complete a Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship. There will be opportunities to gain further industry certifications e.g. AWS Certified Developer
