We are very excited to be launching our brand-new engineering masterclasses, exclusively for our engineering apprentices. These will be occurring once a month where we will be inviting an industry leader to deliver a 90-minute masterclass followed by a Q&A, where they will share their experiences and give an insight into areas of engineering that aim to inspire future generations of engineers.

We take pride in ensuring the learners on our apprenticeship programmes gain a well-rounded experience during their time at PETA, and these Masterclass sessions will contribute to learners’ extra-curricular activities to further support their learning.

Our first session is Engineering in the UK’s largest Deep Water Ports with Ian McCrindle from DP World and will take place on Monday 24th April from 14:00-17:00 at our Access Point centre in Cosham.

We are so excited to be welcoming Ian McCrindle to lead our first Masterclass. Ian is the UK Engineering and Operations Training Manager at DP World Southampton, which was the winner of our Best Corporate Apprentice Employer of the Year in 2022. Ian also supported our Apprentice Vs Dragons’ Den event in February, attending as one of our ‘Dragons’.

DP World Southampton hosts the largest Deep Water Ports in the UK and is responsible for transporting millions of boxes of cargo across the world. Recently, they broke the record for the most containers handled on a single vessel, handing more than 9,000 containers on a ship which sailed from South Korea.

There is a limited capacity for each Masterclass so places will be given on a first come first serve basis. Learners have been contacted by email with more information on how to register their interest. Any learners who miss out on attending our first Masterclass after signing up will be automatically allocated a place at the next session the following month.
