What led you to work for PETA?

My journey began in Kenya, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Business & Information Technology. This foundational education sparked my interest in cybersecurity, leading me to pursue a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Forensic Information Technology.

My professional experience includes roles as a lecturer, where I taught various cybersecurity courses, and previous positions in IT support and web development. These roles have honed my skills in technical troubleshooting, network security, and personalized teaching.

What drew me to PETA is my love for teaching and my desire to help students from diverse backgrounds succeed in the dynamic field of technology. I'm excited to join the team and contribute to their mission of empowering the next generation of technical experts.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

I am an IT technical trainer, focusing on equipping individuals with the skills they need to excel in different technical areas at work. What motivates me most in this role is the chance to directly impact people's lives. I'm driven by the opportunity to help them unleash their potential and reach their career goals in the technology sector.

What knowledge and experience do you draw upon for your role?

I bring together a blend of knowledge and experience across technical areas like cybersecurity, networking, systems administration, and software development. With my background in IT support and web development, I've gained hands-on expertise that helps me share real-world examples and scenarios in training sessions. Moreover, my time as a lecturer has fine-tuned my teaching skills and given me valuable insights into effective instructional methods. In essence, my passion for teaching and empowering others, combined with my IT knowledge, allows me to fulfil my role warmly and effectively.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

I embrace each day as an opportunity to inspire and educate. My daily tasks encompass a range of activities, including preparing training materials and delivering engaging sessions. To excel in this role, I rely on skills such as effective communication, adaptability, organization, and a passion for continuous learning. By approaching each day with enthusiasm and dedication, I strive to create valuable learning experiences for all apprentices.

What's your teaching style?

My teaching style is centred around the student. I prioritize creating an interactive and engaging learning environment where students actively participate and collaborate. I employ various techniques such as group discussions, hands-on exercises, and personalized instruction to cater to individual learning needs and preferences. Ultimately, my goal is to empower apprentices with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in their professional pursuits.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Outside of work, I thrive on spontaneity and love filling my days with diverse activities. Whether it's skating, swimming, reading, dancing, or traveling, I find joy in exploring new experiences and staying active.

What are your personal values and what is important to you?

My core values are my faith, honesty, and compassion. I aim to stay true to myself and others, be kind, and keep growing through learning. Family and friends are really important to me too.
