What led you to work at PETA?
I spent 15 years living and working in Hong Kong, where I gained experience in both the education and finance sectors, working in a kindergarten and previously for a finance company. After returning to the UK, I wanted to find a role that made the most of my organisational skills and attention to detail. The Compliance Officer position at PETA stood out as the perfect opportunity to combine my past experience with my passion for processes and supporting a well-run organisation.
What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?
As Compliance Officer, I play a key role in ensuring PETA meets all the necessary standards, regulations, and internal policies. What motivates me is knowing that my work contributes to maintaining high-quality training and creating a safe, compliant environment for both learners and staff. I enjoy the challenge of working behind the scenes to support continuous improvement.
What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?
I draw upon my strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and understanding of compliance from my previous roles in finance and education. Working internationally also developed my communication skills and ability to adapt to different environments, which is invaluable in a varied role like this.
How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?
Every day I approach my role with accuracy, consistency, and a focus on problem-solving. Attention to detail, a methodical approach, and good communication are all essential in making sure processes run smoothly and standards are maintained.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, exploring new cultures, and spending time with friends and family. I also have a keen interest in personal development and love learning new things.
