Lilly Marchant

"I love creating digitally and exploring new ideas and using my imagination is always fun. Joining PETA has given me the chance to expand my skills and grow in ways I never imagined"

What led you to work for PETA?

Before starting my role as a Marketing Apprentice, I studied Digital Media in college, where I developed a strong interest in creativity, design, and digital communication. During my studies, I discovered my passion for marketing and knew I wanted to pursue it as a career. I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to continue learning while gaining real-world experience, applying my skills in a practical environment and developing a deeper understanding of how marketing works in action.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

As a Marketing Apprentice at PETA, my role involves supporting campaigns through digital design and creative content creation. I love using my creativity to promote the organisation’s message in engaging ways, whether that’s through visuals, social media, or digital marketing materials. I really enjoy the process of bringing ideas to life and seeing how they connect with our audience. What drives me most is the feedback, knowing that my work has an impact and helps spread awareness motivates me to keep improving and pushing creative boundaries.

What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?

For my role, I draw on the knowledge and experience I’ve built up over several years of studying and creating digital content. From Year 9 to Year 11, I studied Media Studies, which introduced me to how media and communication influence audiences. In college, I continued developing my creative and technical skills through Digital Media and Photography, learning about design, editing, and visual storytelling. I also gained hands-on experience managing social media for a family friend’s business, where I learned how to engage audiences, create content, and understand what works online. Altogether, these experiences have helped me build a strong foundation for my marketing apprenticeship.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

Day to day, I approach my role with good time management and pre-planning to make sure I stay organised and meet personal deadlines. I like to plan out my tasks in advance, prioritising what needs to be done and allowing time for creative work and feedback. Teamwork is also a big part of my role, I enjoy collaborating with others, sharing ideas, and supporting the team to achieve our goals. Overall, I think the key skills for this role are time management, organisation, creativity, and communication

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about spending quality time with my family and friends. I really value those moments where we can connect, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. I also enjoy going on walks, whether it’s exploring new places or just taking some time to clear my head. These activities help me recharge and bring a positive, balanced energy back to my work.

What are your personal values, and what is important to you?

My personal values focus on growth, dedication, and connection. I believe it’s important to do my job to the best of my ability and continually learn so I can improve my skills and knowledge. Building good relationships with colleagues is also important to me.  I enjoy working in a supportive environment where teamwork and friendship go hand in hand. Overall, I value personal development, doing meaningful work, and fostering positive connections with the people around me.
