"I value honesty, growth, and helping others. I believe in treating people with respect and being someone others can rely on."

What led you to work for PETA?

I’m Jack Richardson, an ICT Support Technician with over five years of experience in IT support. I’ve always enjoyed working with technology and helping people solve problems, which naturally led me into this field. I started my career as an apprentice, and that experience shaped my approach to learning. What drew me to PETA was the opportunity to grow professionally through their strong focus on training and development.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

At PETA, I work as an ICT Support Technician, providing technical assistance across the organisation. My role involves troubleshooting issues, maintaining systems, and supporting users with their IT needs. What drives me is the satisfaction of helping others, whether it’s resolving a technical problem or showing someone how to do something themselves. I believe in empowering users through knowledge, and I enjoy making technology feel more accessible and less intimidating. Being part of a team that values learning and development keeps me motivated every day.

What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?

I draw on a solid foundation of technical knowledge built over five years in IT support, including experience with hardware, software, networking, and user training. My background as an apprentice taught me the importance of patience, clear communication, and continuous learning. I’ve worked in fast-paced environments where problem-solving and adaptability were key, and I bring that mindset to my role at PETA.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

Each day, I approach my role with a focus on responsiveness, clarity, and collaboration. I prioritise tasks based on urgency and impact, and I make sure to communicate clearly with users to understand their issues and guide them through solutions. Key skills for this role include technical troubleshooting, time management, and strong interpersonal communication. I also rely on empathy and patience, especially when users are frustrated or unsure. My goal is not just to fix problems, but to help people feel more confident using technology.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about football, both playing and watching, and I enjoy staying active through various sports. I also love gaming with friends, which keeps me connected and helps me unwind. These hobbies give me a good balance between staying social and keeping my mind engaged, and they often spark my interest in new tech and digital trends.

What are your personal values, and what is important to you?

I value honesty, growth, and helping others. I believe in treating people with respect and being someone others can rely on. Learning is important to me, whether it’s improving my technical skills or developing personally. I also care about making a positive impact, whether that’s through my work or by supporting others. Being part of a team that shares these values is what makes working at PETA so rewarding.
